The bats were booming for the CBC Construction Legends team as it swept a doubleheader over Shannon Fence in the Lake County Over-50 Softball League.
Joe Marte led the Legends to a 14-8 victory in the first game with three hits, including a home run, and four RBI. Chuck Goerndt also blasted a homer among three hits and drove in three runs, while Bob Sheplavy also contributed three hits. Mark Toreki had two hits and two RBI and Charlie Cash supplied two hits.
Gary Kadow led Shannon Fence with two hits, including a solo homer. Spark Sankal and Bill Weil each hit two-run homers.
Cash powered the Legends to an 18-4 win in the second game with three hits and three RBI. Goerndt belted a homer among two hits and drove in two runs and Andy Holloman and Steve Laurenty each contributed two hits and two RBI. Chris Hammon, Mike Mauro, Mark Toreki and Sheplavy also provided two hits apiece, while Mark Legg smashed a solo homer and Marte drove in a run.
Sankal paced Shannon Fence with two hits and an RBI, while John VanArnheim and Mark Vidmar each had RBI hits.
