Plymouth Township Fire Department gets grant

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP — The Plymouth Fire Department will be receiving more than $150,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to purchase new equipment, said Plymouth Township Fire Chief Bill Strubbe.

“We are receiving $157,986 from FEMA through a grant program that assists firefighters,” said Strubbe of the program that started after the 911 terrorist attacks.

“This will be the third time we have received it,” he said.

“We’re using this grant to replace all our self-contained breathing apparatus. We are also getting two new state-of-the-art cardiac monitors (for our ambulances),” Strubbe said.

He said the money is available right now and he hopes to order the new equipment within the next two to four weeks.
