CONNEAUT —
A man in a motorized wheelchair/scooter thwarted an attempted robbery with one good punch early Friday night, Conneaut police said.
At 7:24 p.m., police were contacted by the would-be victim, who said he was near the intersection of 16th and Broad streets when he was stopped by a man who demanded cash and a package the victim was carrying. When the victim refused, the man tried to strike him but missed, officers were told.
The victim stood up in his chair and punched back, landing a blow that apparently caused his assailant to change his mind, police said. The attacker was last seen fleeing the scene on a bicycle, officers said.
