Car slides into school bus; no one injured

GENEVA — No one was injured in a minor school bus accident Tuesday morning, Geneva schools Superintendent Mary Zappitelli confirmed.

The accident happened at the Geneva High School entrance on Route 84 at 7:06 a.m., as buses were pulling into the school parking lot, police reports show.

Zappitelli said the driver of a car slid into the rear of the school bus, which was carrying students.

“The roads were slippery that morning, and the car slid right into the back of the bus. Luckily, no one was injured,” she said.

Zappitelli said school procedure was followed, and the driver submitted to a drug and alcohol screening, as is protocol in any school-bus accident.

“Anytime there is an accident involving a bus, it is never considered to be minor,” she said. “In this case, there were no injuries, and all safety procedures were followed.”
