Humane Society to host benefit pancake breakfast Jan. 23
GENEVA — Spatulas ready, the volunteers at the Ashtabula County Humane Society are ready to flip flapjacks Jan. 23 to benefit the menagerie of animals in their care.
Humane Society board member Pat Bryner said she will do her best to pile up the pancakes for customers.
“I don’t know how many people to expect,” she said with a laugh, “but I know we will have enough syrup for everyone.”
The breakfast will be held 9 a.m. to noon at the Geneva Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall, 120 Depot St. Cost is $5 per person.
Bryner said proceeds will benefit the care and housing of cats, dogs, horses, ferrets and other pets , some of which need special veterinary attention, as the Humane Society is focused on helping abused and neglected animals.
Several of the animals are housed in the Humane Society’s animal shelter in Austinburg Township.
Bryner said the Humane Society board members and volunteers are excited to meet people who care about critters — and people who love pancakes, of course.
“This is a fundraiser for the animals,” she said, “but we are always excited to get out and meet people and show them that we are here, helping the county’s abused and neglected animals.”
The Humane Society’s adoptable animals are listed at Pet Finder’s Web site (www.petfinder.com/shelters/OH104.html).
