PAINESVILLE —
A Kirtland man died at 5:10 a.m. Sunday when his 2001 Kia Sorento and drifted to the left side of the Route 2, striking the end of a guardrail, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.
Brian Hurley, 36, died at the scene, OHP reports show.
There were no other vehicles involved. The crash remains under investigation and no further information was available Sunday night.
The mother of a baby boy born after a the horse-drawn buggy she was riding in was struck by a Jeep Cherokee in Parkman Township on Wednesday died from her injuries Sunday, OHP reports.
Barbara Kauffman was one of seven people injured in the collison. The baby is listed in fair condition, OHP reports.
The preliminary investigation shows Julie M. Pirtz, 31, of Warren, was driving her Jeep Cherokee east on Route 88 when it rear-ended the Amish buggy, which was driven by Christopher Kauffman, 30, of Parkman Township, crash reports show.
Pirtz was cited for assured clear distance and operating the vechicle under the influence.
The crash remains under investigation, OHP reports.
