The west-bound entrance to Interstate 90 from Route 193 was re-opened Wednesday, but another closing is in the works for next week.
The west-bound through lane was not affected by the closing, which came around 7 a.m. Tuesday. West-bound traffic that had left the interstate for services at the Kingsville interchange was redirected to a detour along routes 193 and 84 to Route 11.
Kristen Erickson, a public information specialist with the Ohio Department of Transportation District IV, said the closing was the result of a concrete pour on a bridge deck over the Ashtabula River.
“The heavy traffic on 90 causes a lot of vibration, which would have made it difficult for the concrete to set,” she said. “They wanted to give it 24 hours.”
Erickson said the contractor plans to pour another bridge on Aug. 3 and the west-bound lane entrance will once against be closed at Route 193.
It should re-open in the afternoon of Aug. 4.
