GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE —
Accolades and awards were given to employees of the Lodge and Conference Center at Geneva-on-the-Lake Wednesday afternoon.
General manager Jeannette Petrolia and human resources manager Debbie Post presented the awards during an ice cream social for lodge staff.
When it came to selecting the associate of the quarter, the choice was clear. The honor went to Daisy Hall, who, within a matter of days, pulled together the reception and events for the Best of the Road television crew.
Hall, who is web coordinator for the lodge, began her career there six years ago as a front-desk worker. As web coordinator, she is constantly finding ways to drive traffic to the lodge’s site and promote the facility’s programs and specials on social media.
County tourism professionals praised her work on the Best of the Road USA Today competition for the vacation spot that offers the most fun.
“It’s not often that we actually get to have some national exposure,” Petrolia said.
“She really took charge of the planning meeting ... and in my personal opinion was the largest factor in making sure the event went so well,” said Mark Winchell, executive director of the Ashtabula County Convention and Visitors Bureau in an email to Petrolia.
Petrolia also named Christina Mottley, retail supervisor, as the second quarter’s manager/supervisor.
Mottley also does double duty as a restaurant supervisor and did a “great job on Grape Camp,” Petrolia added.
Mottley and Hall each received a personalized lodge jacket and will have their names added to plaques.
The management also recognized Ron Bills, who drives the wine shuttle bus. The service has grown from one to three shuttles, and Petrolia said repeat guests often request that Bills be their driver.
Val Sumner and Kent Welch were recognized for their role in ensuring the lodge complied with the Green Pass/ISO audit requirements. Petrolia said the Green Pass audit found no major non-conformities. It deals with recycling and energy savings.
