Firefighters called to UH Conneaut Medical Center

CONNEAUT — Firefighters responded to UH Conneaut Medical Center early Friday afternoon after a report of an activated sprinkler on the second floor of the hospital, said Conneaut Assistant Fire Chief Steve Sanford.

“When we arrived on the scene we heard it was in the emergency room,” Sanford said. He said they were unable to find the source of any fire, but the sprinkler did activate.

“Probably the biggest damage will be water damage to any of the equipment,” Sanford said. He said Ashtabula Township and Springfield responded to the scene as well.

Sanford said an Amish man cutting wood on State Road incurred a serious arm injury while cutting trees and was transported by ambulance to Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
