CONNEAUT — A Conneaut man accused of locking a woman inside his home will have a hearing Monday afternoon in Conneaut Municipal Court, according to reports.
Mark Seifert, 27, 740 1/2 Main St., has been charged with domestic violence, a court spokeswoman said. No bond was given Seifert, who was on house arrest at the time of the incident, according to reports.
Police were called to a Main Street residence at 11:30 p.m. Monday, officers said. They encountered a woman standing inside the address at a basement door she couldn’t open. The woman said she was locked in and couldn’t escape.
While one officer stood with the woman, others went to the apartment door and began knocking, police said. Seifert answered and admitted the officers who then unlocked another door that kept the woman in the basement.
Seifer, who was under house arrest at the time, had been drinking, police said. The woman told officers the pair argued and got into a “wrestling match” over car ignition keys when Seifert began to punch her in the head. The victim escaped and when she fled to the basement, Seifert locked the door behind her, officers said.
Seifert was taken to jail and later transferred to UH Conneaut Medical Center for treatment of a torn scrotum reportedly suffered during the scuffle with the woman, police said.
