Hudson is new president of Ashtabula school board
SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — A celebratory atmosphere filled Lakeside High School on Wednesday evening as a crowd gathered for the swearing in of re-elected and newly elected Ashtabula Area City School Board members.
More than 40 friends, family and area residents watched as Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald Vettel swore in incumbent Janine Trebuchon-Wertz, newly elected Christine Seuffert and incumbent James Hudson.
The school board then elected Hudson to serve as president and Trebuchon-Wertz as vice president.
The board of education’s regular work session for January is 7 p.m. Jan. 12, and the regular meeting will be held 6 p.m. Jan. 19 in the large-group instruction room at LHS.
The regular meetings usually will be held on Wednesday nights, with some exceptions, because of Hudson’s work schedule.
The school board also voted to designate the Star Beacon as the official newspaper for the district’s schools.
Also, Superintendent Joseph Donatone, or his designee, is authorized to cancel classes, totally or by building, on those scheduled school days when, in his judgment, existing conditions jeopardize the safety and health of the students.
