The preliminary cause of death of an Ashtabula Township man, found at his Dickenson Road home Christmas Day, is multiple stab wounds said Jim Baehr, an investigator for the Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office.
Baehr identified the victim, William F. Post, 42, of 3309 Dickenson Road, Sunday afternoon. He said results of an autopsy were delayed because the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office doesn’t perform autopsies on Christmas Day.
Neil Frieder 12/28/09 Baehr said there wasn’t any further information on the case pending continuing work with the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators from the coroner’s office and Sheriff’s Department descended on 3309 Dickenson Road around 3:30 p.m. Christmas Day and were still on the scene late into the night.
Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Ronald Fenton said the investigation is on-going with the entire detective division involved.
“It was not a random act of violence. They (area residents) don’t need to worry about people knocking on their doors,” Fenton said. He said the department is following a lot of leads.
“We should have something in a couple of days,” Fenton said.
