Commissioners make appointments to various boards

JEFFERSON — The Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners approved a list of appointments to county boards during its agenda meeting Tuesday.

To the Ashtabula County Mental Health and Recovery Services (MHRS) Board, commissioners appointed Kim Whitcroft-Parker and Candace Arcaro. Whitcroft-Parker will fill a term that expires June 30, 2011. Arcaro’s term will expire June 30, 2013.

County commissioners appoint 10 of the board’s members.

Kim Whitcroft-Parker also was reappointed to the Ashtabula County Children Services Board. Her current term expires Dec. 31, along with those of Nancy Callaway and Fred Grimm. Callaway and Grimm also were reappointed. Their new terms expire Dec. 31, 2013.

Gary Hunter was appointed to the Ashtabula County Planning Commission. Hunter fills the vacancy left by Jerry Dunlap, who resigned. The term ends March 28, 2012.

Troy Bailey and Raymond “Chip” Stroup were appointed to the Ashtabula County Transportation System Advisory Committee. The terms are set at three years.

Commissioners approved the appointment of Richard Griffiths as a city managers’ appointment to the Ashtabula County and Convention Visitors Authority, which oversees the bed tax revenue set aside for the Lodge and Conference Center at Geneva-on-the-Lake. He fills a vacancy created by a reshuffling of appointments. His term ends May 31, 2010.

In other action, commissioners held an executive session pertaining to collective bargaining and accepted certificates of results for the Senior Services and Mental Health levies passed by voters in the November election.
