ROCK CREEK -- A Rock Creek woman is in a wicked situation following a raucous display during a production of the Broadway hit “Wicked,” Tuesday night in Cleveland.
Kathleen Holmes, 49, of Rock Creek, was charged with felonious assault on a police officer after she was handcuffed and removed from the State Theater in Playhouse Square Center, according to clevelandmunicipalcourt.org and The Plain Dealer.
Holmes waved her right to a preliminary hearing in Cleveland Municipal Court Thursday morning, and her case was bound over to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
The show’s tour manager, Steve Quinn, says a drunken obscenity-filled brawl broke out as understudy Kaye Clark, who was playing the green witch named Elphaba was on stage during one of the show’s quietest moments when the scuffle started.
Not allowing the commotion to deter her, Clark kept right on singing the sad and beautiful song, “I’m Not That Girl,” and the audience rewarded her with a standing ovation, stated The Plain Dealer.
Holmes, on the other hand, would have faced only misdemeanor charges, but had to spend the night in jail and was charged with felonious assault, after she attacked the booking officer, showed newspaper reports.
Holmes’ bond was placed at $2,500 with a 10 percent cash surety, court records show.
Ashtabula County Court records show, Holmes has been cited six times in the past 10 years for traffic violations.
Holmes could not be reached for comment.
