MV Transportation earns another ACTS contract
JEFFERSON — A California company that has operated the Ashtabula County Transportation System for several years will be back behind the wheel in 2010, County Commissioners agreed at Thursday’s regular meeting.
MV Transportation, of Fairfield, Calif., was given a one-year contract beginning Jan. 1, and the option to renew up to four additional years. MV bested three other interested vendors, including one local firm, in a special evaluation, said Susan Stockman, program manager for the Ashtabula County Department of Job and Family Services.
“(MV) met all the requirements,” she said.
A review committee comprised of two DJFS employees and two community members evaluated the candidates, commissioners said. Vendors were judged on their responsiveness to the request for proposals issued in September, according to a letter from Patrick Arcaro, ACDJFS, executive director. Three of the companies cleared that first hurdle, Arcaro wrote.
The final evaluation involved a wide range of criteria, Arcaro said. When the scores were tabulated, MV graded the best.
The Ohio Department of Transportation agreed with the committee’s decision, a letter sent to commissioners states.
Peggy Carlo, board of commissioners’ president, praised the panel that screened the vendors.
