WILLIAMSFIELD TOWN-SHIP — Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are still investigating a car-buggy accident Tuesday morning that injured four members of a Williamsfield Township family, according to reports.
Troopers still need to talk to the victims, who remain hospitalized, said Sgt. Keith Palmer. “We need a lot of information from them,” he said.
A sedan driven by Michael Costa of Jamestown, Pa., struck the rear of the eastbound buggy shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Route 322 east of Route 7, Palmer said. Aboard the buggy were Robert Miller of Williamsfield; his wife, Amelia; and young children Melvin and Barbara, Palmer said.
The adults were flown by medical helicopter to a hospital, Palmer said. The children were also hospitalized, he said.
Witnesses who happened on the scene said some of the victims were sprawled in the roadway. The horse pulling the buggy died, witnesses said.
No citations have been issued pending the completion of the investigation, Palmer said.
