WILLIAMSFIELD TOWNSHIP — Felony assault charges are pending against a Williamsfield Township man, and possibly his wife, who reportedly sent a township man to the hospital Saturday night, according to Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department deputies.

The 31-year-old victim suffered a broken jaw from kicks to his head, deputies said. He was transported to the St. Joseph Health Center in Andover.

Deputies were called to routes 6 and 322 after a caller reported a fight. Witnesses told deputies a man knocked down the victim, then kicked him repeatedly while a woman held him on the ground.

The victim told deputies his assailant drove by and called him a name before the attack. The victim believes the attacker thinks he “snitched” on him regarding a recent drug investigation, deputies said.

Investigators were led to a Twichell Road couple, deputies said.

In other news, deputies arrested three men for domestic violence in three separate incidents over the weekend:

n Joseph Safko, 43, 2340 County Line Road., Geneva Township, was charged early Monday morning after he reportedly assaulted a woman after he returned home after visiting a bar, deputies said;

n Kevin Nipple, 35, 7178 Smith Road, Williamsfield Township, was arrested Saturday night after he reportedly struck and choked a woman. The woman’s 10-year-old daughter called deputies, according to a report; and

n Kenneth Young, 30, 2809 Mill St., Austinburg, was charged after he reportedly struck his wife in the face during an argument early Friday night. The woman ran to a neighbor’s house to call for help, deputies said.
