GENEVA —
Sometimes it takes a flock of eagles to get the job done.
The Geneva Midget League Football, United Little League, Geneva Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Geneva Fraternal Order of Eagles will host the EagleFest Block Party on Friday and Saturday, organizer Joe Cooper said.
The event will be held in the Depot Street parking lot and will feature alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, dancing, kids games, corn hole and more.
“The block party will be fun for all ages,” Cooper said.
Cooper said the block party is a way to raise money for the groups involved.
“We are hoping to create an annual event that will help offset the cost of youth football, baseball and help the FOE and VFW continue the projects they do, such as sending World War II veterans to see the memorial in Washington D.C. and supporting the local food pantry,” he said.
The event opens at 6 p.m. Friday and the band Dashboard Jesus will perform at 6:30 p.m. The ban Revolution Switch will play from 9 to 11:30 p.m.
The fun begins at noon on Saturday with a virtual disc jockey from noon to 4 p.m., the band Family Tradition from 4 to 6 p.m., the band Haz-Mat at 7 p.m. and Raised on a Rock at 9 p.m.
The FOE will host $20 Texas Hold’em, sit-and-go tournaments, Hold’em 1-2, no limit and blackjack.
The VFW will host adult drinking games including beer pong and flip cup.
No children will be admitted into the FOE or VFW.
“We will even provide rides home to people who live in the Geneva school district,” Cooper said. “We want everyone to have fun and be safe.”
Cooper said the music will end at midnight each night with last call at 11 p.m.
“We hope everyone will also visit the downtown businesses to see what they have to offer,” he said.
