JEFFERSON —
Growth Partnership for Ashtabula County is hosting an oil and gas business seminar that will explore the potential benefits of the energy boom for local companies.
The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at Spire Institute in Harpersfield Township. The $25 registration fee includes lunch. Growth Partnership trustee organizations and businesses are permitted two free registrations.
Ohio’s shale energy boom is expected to attract billions of dollars in new investment and generate thousands of new or supported jobs. The seminar will provide strategies to help local businesses benefit from this coming “game changer.”
The industry has implications for businesses that provide valves and piping components; professional services such as engineering, design, environmental testing and insurance; employment placement; workforce education and training; logistics and warehousing; sand, aggregate and water; construction; machinery, equipment and engine repair; and industrial goods.
Seminar topics include the promise of shale, how to position your business as part of the supply chain or a downstream industry and what the oil and gas companies expect from their contractors.
The program will feature Mark Matusic, manager of corporate development, Chesapeake Energy Corp.; Rhonda Reda, executive director of Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program; and Linda Woggon, senior vice president, Ohio Shale Coalition.
Event sponsors include Andover Bank, H&H Enterprises, Complete Energy Services, Inc., KeyBank and Northwest Savings Bank.
