CONNEAUT — A Conneaut jail inmate faces a felony charge after she spat on a police officer during a jailhouse altercation Tuesday afternoon, according to reports.
Misty Lindsay, 26, 289 Depot St., has been charged with assault of a police officer, a fourth-degree felony, according to a Conneaut Municipal Court spokeswoman.
The incident began around 2:14 p.m., when Lindsay was returning to jail from a court appearance, police said. Lindsay repeatedly refused an officer’s request to re-enter her cell and began to cry and argue with officers. Officers eventually had to secure Lindsay, according to reports.
An officer escorted Lindsay into the detox cell, and when he began to close the door, she spit, police said. Some of the spittle struck the officer in the face, according to reports.
Locked in a cell, Lindsay began kicking the sink and toilet, police said. She eventually was transferred to a special restraint chair, officers said.
Lindsay originally was arrested Monday night after a fight with another woman, police said. Lindsay struck the woman and pulled out some of her hair, according to reports. She was charged with assault in that incident, according to court records.
