ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — A Conneaut man was arrested Monday after he reportedly disrupted a court hearing, threatening a woman and others, according to the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department.
A short time later, the man was riding a bicycle along Route 20, a BB gun in a backpack, screaming obscenities at passing motorists, according to reports.
Deputies charged Kenneth Wiley, 33, 272 Salem St., with inducing panic, menacing and disorderly conduct.
The incident began around 2:30 p.m., when Wiley became disruptive during a hearing conducted by Magistrate Edith Hough, deputies said. Wiley aimed threats at a woman, her mother and her attorney, according to reports.
Wiley refused to calm down and was finally ordered out of the hearing by Hough, deputies said.
At 3:25 p.m., deputies received a call of a man riding a bicycle on Route 20, screaming and giving obscene gestures at passing motorists. A gun could be seen protruding from a backpack, deputies said.
Deputies caught up with the cyclist at routes 20 and 11 and discovered it was Wiley. Deputies removed a BB gun from the backpack, according to reports.
Wiley was sweating profusely and speaking strangely, deputies said.
