The West Liberty Street Covered Bridge will be unique in many ways, Geneva City Manager Jim Pearson said.
The bridge, which will be 18 feet long and 24 feet wide, will be the shortest covered bridge in the nation by two feet.
It will be the only bridge constructed with locally harvested timber.
The bridge will also be the only covered bridge located in the heart of a municipality.
Once built, the bridge will be the county’s 18th covered bridge and will make Ashtabula County the covered bridge capital of the United States, as it will have the most covered bridges of any other county.
The bridge will also make Ashtabula County the home of both the nation’s longest and shortest covered bridges.
