Motorcycle passenger dies in crash

Two others injured in 3-vehicle crash in Trumbull Township

TRUMBULL TOWNSHIP — A Thompson Township woman died Sunday afternoon when she was thrown from the motorcycle she was riding in a three-vehicle crash on Route 166, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.

Kimberly Judd, 28, was riding as a passenger on Matthew Judd’s motorcycle. The Judds were eastbound on Route 166 as a pickup truck driven by James Mathews, 20, of Austinburg Township, was westbound turning onto Graham Road, OHP reports.

Mathews turned the truck left into the path of the Judds’ motorcycle. The motorcycle hit the truck, the crash report shows.

Both Kimberly and Matthew Judd were ejected from the motorcycle and neither was wearing a helmet, OHP reports.

Matthew Judd was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown by medical helicopter. Kimberly Judd and James Mathews were transported to UH-Geneva Medical Center, where Kimberly Judd was pronounced dead, OHP reports.

Mathews’ condition was not released Sunday.

The crash also involved a third vehicle, driven by Patricia Williams, 55, of Rome Township. Williams was northbound on Graham Road when her car was struck by Mathews’ truck as it was pushed by the impact of the motorcycle, OHP reports.

Williams was not injured in the crash, crash reports show.

The crash is under investigation by OHP, reports show, and is the second serious motorcycle crash in a week as John and Heather Brunner were both injured Tuesday when an18-year-old woman drove into the path of the Brunners’ motorcycle.

The impact of the crash ejected John Brunner, 27, over the woman’s car.

Heather Brunner suffered two broken feet, a broken tailbone and broken ribs. Her husband fractured his neck, and has one broken foot, a fractured wrist, a broken hand and several severed nerves in the other hand.
