ROCK CREEK — Rock Creek Village Council recently hired a permanent fiscal office who began her duties officially Thursday.

Betty Legg of Andover was hired at a starting annual salary of $13,500, said Mayor Beverly Martin.

“Betty came highly recommended and we feel she will work out real well,” Martin said.

Cindy Pace, Orwell’s fiscal officer, agreed to take the job of interim fiscal officer for $15 an hour for a 40 to 50-hour time period after the sudden resignation of Teresa Cumberledge on Feb. 16.

Pace has remained on to help train the new fiscal officer.

Solicitor David McCombs recently advised council to hire a fiscal officer from another village for the short term to deal with the upcoming March 31 appropriations deadline. The interim fiscal officer would straighten out the immediate financial situation.

The village advertised for a new fiscal officer with the salary to be between $13,500 and $16,000.

“Cindy is here showing Betty the ropes and our appropriations will be done on time,” Martin said.
