ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — Sixty-degree temperatures brightened the spirits of vendors and visitors to the Ashtabula County Home Show on Friday afternoon.
“I’m so happy with the way it has turned out,” said Meghann Flynn, senior marketing/ specialty leasing manager at Ashtabula Towne Square.
Flynn credited the hard work of Sue Ellen Foote and the Ashtabula County Chamber of Commerce for the annual event, which unofficially kicks off the spring season.
“We have a nice mix of vendors,” Flynn said of the exhibitors, which included builders, heating specialists and lawn care companies, among others.
“It’s always fun to work with the chambers on this event,” Flynn said.
Julie Germovsek, of the Conneaut Chamber of Commerce board of directors, said the traffic through the show was good Friday afternoon and vendors were expecting good crowds during the weekend.
“They (the chambers of commerce) really look at it as bringing the whole county together,” she said.
Several officials mentioned that visitors and vendors said the event helps convince people winter is nearing a conclusion.
“It kicks off the spring season,” Germovsek said.
“It’s steady now,” said Roman Vencill of CBC Construction and CBC Electric, Friday afternoon. “I’m looking forward to (the weekend),” he said.
Vencill said the generator business was exploding Friday, after all the power problems in the area during the last several years, with 13 people requesting further information.
Bill and Evelyn Coon of North Kingsville were checking out the booths at the mall during a weekly Friday visit to Ashtabula Towne Square.
“We’re checking out the show,” Bill Coon said.
