McKEAN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An Ashtabula woman was hospitalized after an accident that left a 19-year-old woman dead Saturday afternoon.
Pennsylvania State Police at Erie report Stephanie L. Hutchinson, 19, of Ashtabula, was driving north with on Route 99 in McKean Township when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions.
Hutchinson’s car collided with a car driven by Matthew D. Lowe, 21, of Linesville, and fishtailed into the southbound lane, police report.
Unable to stop, Lowe’s vehicle struck the passenger side of Hutchinson’s car, killing Hutchinson’s passenger, Katelyn N. Martibello, 19, of Greeley, police report.
Martibello was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hutchinson and Lowe’s passenger, Jerracah J. Heibel, 18, of Meadville, both were taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, police said.
Both Hutchinson and Heibel were listed in fair condition Sunday, a nursing supervisor said.
Lowe had minor injuries, but was treated at the scene.
All four persons were wearing seatbelts, police said.
