GENEVA — City Council sent an $8 million wish list to the Ashtabula County Commissioners, City Manager Jim Pearson said, hoping the city will benefit from the $146 million countywide proposal to capitalize on a possible federal stimulus package.
Pearson discussed the list at the regular council meeting Monday.
“The Ashtabula County Commissioners have asked us, and every other community, to pick capital projects to be submitted,” Pearson said.
On the city’s wish list is the $475,000 repair of the Chestnut Street bridge and repaving; the $450,000 Sherman Street paving and reconstruction; $240,000 in repairs to Van Epps Street; $450,000 for the paving and reconstruction of North Eagle Street; $2.5 million for Cowles Creek storm sewer repairs; and $3 million for the Wastewater Treatment Plan equalization basin.
Pearson said the list is meant to help guide the commissioners in the quest for federal funding for capital improvements.”
Geneva-on-the-Lake Council submitted 11 capital projects to the list, including street and sewer repairs on Palmer, Palmetto, Residential, South Geneva and University drives; Old Lake Road; the complete road rehabilitation of Bicycle and Lomas Lane; storm water improvements on Lake Road; a $90,000 ultraviolet disinfectant unit and a $480,000 sludge filter press system, the stimulus project list reveals.
Geneva Township submitted just one request: $1.5 million for improvements to Padanaram Road.
Harpersfield Township requested $1 million to repair Bishop Road, the list shows
