Church offers holiday cheer

KINGSVILLE — Members of the Kingsville Baptist Church spent a rainy Sunday afternoon spreading holiday cheer throughout the community.

About 25 individuals went door-to-door passing out Christmas cookies, made by church members, and invitations to several upcoming Christmas events at the church.

This is the second year the church has hosted the event. The original plan was to travel through the community on a horse-drawn carriage singing Christmas carols, but because of the rain, volunteers had to travel by car, minus the caroling.

“We did this last year and we’re doing it again because so many people said how much it touched them,” said pastor Dave Hines.

The group visited 250 homes in the community. Before they got started, the group did a little exercise to get themselves more in the holiday spirit. Each person had to introduce themselves and tell what their favorite Christmas present was.

Some of the favorites mentioned were Star Wars action figures, baby dolls and marriage proposals.
