CONNEAUT — A ruptured high-pressure natural-gas line forced the evacuation of nearly a dozen homes in a Conneaut neighborhood early Thursday morning, firefighters said.
Traffic was rerouted away from the leak site and a handful of children who catch a school bus on Stadium Avenue were kept a distance away, firefighters said.
City crews with the Public Works Department struck a 4-inch line while digging to make repairs to a storm sewer at Maple and Reig avenues, firefighters said. Pressurized gas spewed into the air but caused no fire or injury, according to a fire report.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 8 a.m. A large area between Reig and Stadium avenues was sealed off to traffic.
