CONNEAUT — Brick by brick, one of downtown Conneaut’s big businesses is receiving a major makeover.
An extensive exterior renovation project began this week on the Main Street side of Orlando Brothers Golden Dawn and the two stores that flank the supermarket, said Jerry Orlando. When finished later this fall, the result will be startling, he said.
“There will be a whole new brick facade on the front of the three buildings we own,” Orlando said. “Everything will be updated.”
The color and style will closely resemble brick used in Conneaut’s City Hall, which sits across the street. Windows in the buildings’ apartments will also be replaced, Orlando said.
The project, planned for a long time, continues a massive remodeling project begun a few years ago with construction of a new entrance off the store’s Liberty Street parking lot. More recently, management launched an overhaul of the interior, Orlando said. Aisles were widened and shelves added to accommodate more products, he said.
Work began in earnest Monday and should be finished before winter weather arrives, Orlando said.
