ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — The Buckeye Local Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution Monday night supporting the placement of a 1.0-mill renewal levy for the Kingsville Public Library on the November ballot.
The five-year levy will be presented to voters in Kingsville Township, the Village of North Kingsville, and the portion of voters in the Buckeye Local School District who live in Sheffield and Monroe townships.
“We really hope all of the students will be able to continue to enjoy all of the wonderful resources we have there,” said Kathy Pope, executive director of the library. “It’s for the students.”
The levy will generate about $111,200 annually to help pay for the library’s current expenses, according to the resolution. The levy amounts to 10 cents for each $100 of valuation.
In other business Monday night, the school board:
n Applauded Edgewood Senior High School sophomore, Mallory Kreider, for making the First Team All-Ohio Division II Girls Track Team. The board gave Mallory a certificate.
“I really admire her mental tenacity,” Superintendent Nancy Williams said.
n Welcomed Robert David Fargo, a new science teacher at Edgewood Senior High School, effective Aug. 21.
n Accepted a bid from Cardinal Bus Sales to buy one bus and lease three others for $67,960 each. At the end of the lease, the district will own the buses.
