JEFFERSON — An 8th grade student at Jefferson Area. High School has been suspended in connection with a series of threats made at the school, Police Chief Steve Febel said Thursday.
Police have been investigating the threats since May 8, when the first one was found on the wall of the girls bathroom in the junior high area of the building. Threats saying “I’m going to bomb the school” were found on May 8, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, he said.
The student suspected to be behind the threats was absent from school Wednesday, and coincidentally, no threats were written, Febel said.
The threats were written in what appeared to be a female’s handwriting. The handwriting was compared to the handwriting in the student’s notebook and school officials felt they had enough evidence to suspend her for 10 days, he said.
“(Police) don’t have enough to charge her yet,” Febel said. “The investigation is ongoing and if we get enough, she will be charged.”
Febel said the students denies writing the threats. The student is a transfer student that has been in trouble at the school before, he said.
