ASHTABULA — Through guided meditation and an innate sense, so to speak, Pat Uhr, of Lakewood, has become a vehicle to filter information to people looking for answers and guidance.
Uhr said she feels a great energy when she gives a psychic reading. She began doing readings about 15 years ago and has been reading professionally for the past four years.
Uhr said most people have some sort of psychic ability, but block it out.
“It’s awareness,” she said. “The only thing that can get in your way is your own filter. It’s learning to let that go.”
Uhr says a prayer before each of her readings to open herself up to a power greater than herself. She works a lot with stones because a lot of energy can be picked up from them, she said.
“I have (the individual) pick up a stone and hold it,” she said.
Uhr then takes the stone from the individual, transferring the energy from the individual to herself.
“It’s more my energy and what I pick up,” she said.
She then conducts a Tarot Card reading. Uhr said one of the most important things is to always try and give a positive reading.
“You never want to say ‘You’re going to leave here and get into a big car wreck,’” she said. “I might tell them ‘You might want to get your car checked out.’ It’s important to remain upbeat and positive because there is enough negativity in the world.”
The two most popular things most people want to know about when getting a reading are relationships and money, she said.
For Uhr, giving psychic readings is all about awareness.
“I think when you’re really in the zone, so to speak, readings will make you more aware and not deplete you,” she said. “That’s my payoff.”
Uhr was one of seven other psychic readers at the Silver Branch’s psychic fair Saturday. The new age metaphysical store hosts psychic fairs on the last Saturday of every month, said owner Shari Lynn.
“These are all respected and well-known readers,” she said.
Readers featured at the psychic fairs include intuitive mediums, meaning they receive messages from spirits, Tarot Card readers, rune readers, angel card readers, Reiki healers, and occasionally reflexology and massage, she said.
Patrons can receive a 20-minute reading for $20. Private readings are also available every day by appointment for $35 for a 30-minute reading, she said.
The Silver Branch is also hosting a stone trunk show which will continue today.
