GENEVA — When Mike Coles and Sharon Bezoski opened Earth’s Natural Treasures too... in April of last year, they had one thing in mind. The store’s co-owners wanted to provide Ashtabula County with a full-service health food store.

However, a walk through the store at 56 South Broadway in Geneva reveals that it’s much more than that. It’s an eclectic, unique take on your everyday health food store, the kind of place you might find in Cleveland Heights. In Coles and Bezoski’s words, “There’s something here for everyone.”

Earth’s Natural Treasures too... is part health food store, part boutique, part café and part art gallery. One room contains a myriad of all natural food supplements and vitamins mixed in with clothes, crystals, rocks and beach glass art. Another room features a gallery, and another a café. All rooms are filled with health and all natural living foods and accessories. The store has its formidable inventory under one roof, making it an interesting, fun place to browse.

Before opening a smaller store, Earth’s Natural Treasures, in Geneva-on-the-Lake in 2008, Bezoski and Coles had worked at festivals selling various healthy living products and other things. Coles, a Mentor-on-the-Lake resident who works for Northern Haserot Foods, sold Lucky Bamboo, lights and flags. Bezoski, a Geneva resident with a degree in bioengineering, sold health products. They decided to merge not long after opening the Geneva-on-the-Lake store to create a full service health emporium, and the result in 2012 was Earth’s Natural Treasures too....

One of the store’s most interesting offerings is local food. Locally raised, grass-fed, free-range beef and pork, as well as local honey and Holmes County cheese are available. This spring and summer, local organic produce will be for sale. There are vegan foods, bulk herbs and spices, bulk cheese and bulk teas. There are homemade baked goods and Ezekiel Bread. The store also sells Tammy Roesch’s Better Than Greens products.

“We buy from a farm in Jefferson and a farm in Chardon,” Bezoski said. “It’s all locally grown or organic food.”

The store’s many vitamins and food supplements contain no perfumes, dyes or chemicals. There are natural cleaning products and handmade soaps. The store even stocks all natural pet foods. There are also flowers, nuts, sprouting mixes, essential oils and all natural spices.

“Our goal is to bring the most natural foods resources to Ashtabula County as possible,” she said.



Another goal of the owners was to provide unique local items like clothing, sterling silver, jewelry, crystals and minerals, aromatherapy products and art. One more favorite is Lucky Bamboo, which creates more oxygen in rooms where it grows. There’s also Soilmoist and other garden products.

Earth’s Natural Treasures too... now has a food license, and smoothies, coffee products and healthy snacks will be on sale soon in a café in the back of the store.

“We’re busy trying to grow our clientele and store now,” Bezoski said. “We’re customer oriented, and anything a customer might want we will order.”

So far, around half of the store’s visitors are tourists, but local shoppers are increasing in number. “We like to educate people about what we have offer,” she said. “Most of our products sell for far less than those at an average retail health food store.”

Bezoski and Coles agree that their location in Geneva is ideal. “We’re near the lake and Geneva State Park and all the attractions,” Coles said. “And the store itself is in a great-looking old building that’s ideal for interacting with customers in a friendly, face-to-face way.”

Coles and Bezoski said they look forward to bringing even more items to Earth’s Natural Treasures too... to promote health and sustainable living in Ashtabula County.
