GENEVA TOWNSHIP —
The 18-year-old driver who crashed a vehicle into a tree on Wheeler Creek Road early Wednesday was high on methamphetamine, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.
The Geneva woman faces four charges: failure to control, no operator’s license, operating under the influence and aggravated vehicular assault, the OHP reports.
She was driving a GMC sports utility vehicle on Wheeler Creek Road at 4: 30 a.m. Wednesday when she veered off the left side of the road and struck a tree, according to OHP reports.
The driver and a 41-year-old Ashtabula man were injured in the crash and transported by ambulance to a Cleveland hospital, OHP reports said.
OHP troopers on the scene suspected the driver of using methamphetamine and a blood sample was taken from her, according to OHP reports.
The driver did not give a reason why she lost control of the vehicle, reports show.
The passenger remained in critical condition Thursday, OHP reports said.
Methamphetamine is a highly addictive and powerful stimulant that creates a euphoric and energetic feeling.
