If you’re looking for some good homemade cooking Chillin & Grill Inn is the place to go.
The restaurant is located inside the Ramada Inn on Austinburg Road at the Route 45 and Interstate 90 interchange.
For owner Seader Dunkin, the process of opening the restaurant has been a whirlwind. Dunkin, who is no stranger to running a business, had just two weeks to decide if it was something she wanted to do and get everything ready to open.
Dunkin said she always wanted to have her own business and got her feet wet when she opened Seader D’s Candies in Geneva in 2008. The store closed its doors in July 2010. Dunkin was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to present itself, when a friend from high school approached her about opening a restaurant.
Jason Smith, who manages the hotel, was looking for someone to lease the restaurant after Carl’s Steak House closed. He presented the opportunity to Dunkin and within two weeks, she and her boyfriend Juston Cantrell opened the doors to the restaurant.
“It was a spur of the moment thing,” she said. “So I said ‘what the heck.’”
Chillin & Grill Inn served its first customers on Nov. 8. Patrons of the restaurant can enjoy a variety of homemade food including burgers, wings and pizza.
“We have a little bit of everything,” she said.
Dunkin, who does most of the cooking herself, said business has been very good which prompted her to hire some help.
“I just hired a cook,” she said. “It was just getting overwhelming.”
All the food is made in-house, including all the wing sauces, she said.
“We don’t buy canned spaghetti sauce and all the wing sauces are homemade,” Dunkin said.
Chillin & Grill Inn also features daily and weekly specials. Every Wednesday is 50 cent wing night and bottles of beer are $2. Every Saturday kids under 12 eat free.
Dunkin said the restaurant always has business from hotel guests, but she is hoping to get a little more outside business. She is also looking into the possibility of having entertainment.
The restaurant has played host to a few special events, including a meet and great with A Christmas Story actor Ian Pentrella in December. On Jan. 22, the Cash Mob, a local group that goes to various local businesses and “mobs” them, will be at Chillin & Grill Inn.
“They’re bringing about 100 people with them,” she said. “We’re really excited.”
The group helps support local businesses.
In addition to serving breakfast and dinner, Chillin & Grill Inn will also cater special events. Dunkin said the hotel hosts a lot of banquets and the restaurant provides catering services for them. Dunkin said they will also cater outside events such as parties and open houses.
Chillin & Grill Inn is open for breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The restaurant also features a bar. Dunkin said the restaurant will have extended hours in the summer.
