Bands, contests Saturday for Conneaut Dock Fest
Conneaut’s Dock Fest , wacky boat race
CONNEAUT — Delayed from its mid-summer date by bad weather, Conneaut’s Dock Fest drops anchor Saturday at the city’s public dock.
Music, food, games and displays of classic cars and vintage vessels highlight the lineup. Despite the two-month delay, organizers were able to retain all exhibitors and performers, said Joe Raisian, a Conneaut Port Authority member who is coordinating the event.
The show was formerly the Antique Boat and Car Show. The name was changed to reflect the day’s diverse schedule, Raisian said.
At noon, the Conneaut Moose Club’s “wacky boat race,” featuring homemade boats, begins from the sandbar adjacent to the dock.
The Conneaut High School Spartan Marching Band also will perform at noon. Other entertainers include The Kingpins, noon to 3 p.m., Shotgun, 3 to 5 p.m., and Relay, 5-8 p.m. Local organizations and groups will set up food booths, Raisian said.
Throughout the day, cars, trucks and antique wooden boats will be on display.
Begun four years ago, the event helps showcase the city’s Port of Conneaut District.
