Man who drove car into Kingsville Township pond located

KINGSVILLE TOWNSHIP — The man who reportedly was at the wheel of a vehicle that entered a pond in Kingsville Township late Thursday night was scheduled to meet with Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, officials said.

The driver, who fled the scene of the Fox Road incident, contacted troopers and said he would come to the Saybrook Township post Friday night to complete a crash report, according to Sgt. Keith Palmer.

The crash occurred a few minutes before midnight. A compact car left the roadway and traveled several hundred feet before the front end entered a pond. The driver fled the scene, firefighters said.

A rope lashed to the vehicle by firefighters was tied to a tree to keep the car from sinking further into the water. Personnel at the scene were confident no one had entered the water.

Kingsville Fire Chief Neal Stewart could not be immediately reached for comment Friday afternoon.
