Commissioners approve Andover sewer project

JEFFERSON — A scope of agreement for a sewer project on South Main in Andover Village received commissioners’ approval on Tuesday.

The funding is coming from the county’s 2011 Community Development Block Grant allocation. Cost of the entire project is estimated at $116,000. The block grant’s share is $45,700, with the Ohio Public Works Commission providing the balance.

The work involves 186 feet of new storm sewer line. The project must be substantially complete by May 31 and ready for payment within 30 days thereafter. Andover Village and United Survey Inc., of Oakwood Village, are the parties in the agreement.

In other action during the Tuesday agenda meeting, commissioners Daniel Claypool and Peggy Carlo approved:

•  A resolution accepting the appointment of Wayne Klingensmith to the Ashtabula County Solid Waste Policy Advisory Committee. Klingensmith will serve as the business/ industrial representative;
•  Received bids and laid on the table for review bids for the Ashtabula County Children Services roof modification and replacement project. The project drew five bids, with Schwartz Construction of Conneaut having the lowest bid at $669,995. The highest bid was from Warren Roofing & Insulating Co. of Walton Hills, whose bid was just over $1 million.
•  Approved a contract with R.W. Sidley, Thompson, for limestone for the engineer’s office. The total price is not to exceed $46,725.
•  Approved a contract with Ennis Paint, Ennis, Texas, for traffic marking paint used by the engineer’s office. Total is $57,298.95.
