GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE —
The links at the Geneva-on-the-Lake Municipal Golf Course are limited to where the golf carts can go, village administrator Jim Hockaday said.
“So we need to increase the number of holes assessable by cart,” he said.
To that end, the annual Mayor’s Open golf tournament, to be held Sept. 16 at the golf course, will raise money to build a golf cart path for the back nine holes at the golf course.
The asphalt path, which could cost as much as $180,000, is a long way off, but the Hockaday said the outing could raise as much as $5,000 toward the project.
“All proceeds go to the golf course capital fund,” he said. “It will be really exciting to be able to use the course in the early spring and late fall when it is wet and access to the course is limited.”
In the third annual four person scramble, the tournament will feature an 18-hole experience with a shotgun start. Tee-off will be at 10 a.m. and the event will include a hole-in-one shot to win a 2013 Chevrolet car from Classic Chevrolet in Madison.
Tickets are limited to 120 golfers and include a cookout meal with beverages and music by Craig Emmett. There are unlimited food and beverage tickets available.
A four-person team can register for $240.
Sponsorships for the outing are still available. Become a tee sponsor for $100, a flag sponsor for $150 and a major sponsor for $500.
