ANDOVER —
The village square was full of activity Saturday during the 6th Annual Fall Festival.
“This is the biggest parade by far because it is an election year,” said Susan Hill of the Andover Public Library and the Andover Area Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber decided to start the event to bring people downtown during the fall. Organizers said it has been a rousing success.
“We have more crafters and civic organizations,” Hill said of the 21 exhibitors that joined four food vendors to make the village square the place to be.
Hill said Myra Brown helped organize the parade and the election season added a few more parade participants.
The hope of drawing out-of-town residents to the festival seems to be a success, Brown said. “There was a lot of people from Pennsylvania.” she said.
Kelsie Britton, 5, of Andover, said she liked the horse-drawn carriage the best.
In addition to the booths on the square a variety of game options were open, including an applesauce eating contest and sack races.
“It gets bigger every year,” Brown said.
Hundreds of people lined the square as parade participants made their way around the square before heading west on Route 6.
Many local politicians rode in cars or handed out information along the parade route while Miss Pymatuning waved to the crowd from a convertible.
