PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP — The 11-year-old girl who was crushed Saturday when a car pinned her against the wall of a garage remains in critical condition at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Plymouth Township Fire Chief Bill Strubbe said.
The girl suffered serious injuries to her upper body and is undergoing extensive medical diagnostics, Strubbe said.
“As of 4 p.m. (Sunday), her condition is unchanged. She is still in critical condition as the doctors work to find the extent of her injuries,” he said.
Strubbe said the girl was in the garage at her home at 1319 Stevenson Rd. in Plymouth Township when the vehicle moved and pinned her against the garage wall.
Strubbe said the call came in at 4:38 p.m. and when firefighters responded they found neighbors attending to the child’s serious injuries. The girl was in the garage with her 13-year-old brother, fire department reports show.
Strubbe said the child was treated at the scene and then transported to Ashtabula County Medical Center and then transported by medical helicopter to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.
The incident is under investigation by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department, though no further information was available
