Wine Fest and Pet Day to benefit Munger museum

GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE —  The quiet rhythm of Lake Erie and the smooth warmth of a glass of wine will be celebrated Saturday at the fourth annual Wine Fest and Pet Day on Saturday at the Jennie Munger Gregory Memorial Museum.

The Ashtabula County Historical Society will celebrate history, wine and furry best friends at the museum on Lake Road to raise money for historical preservation and to promote historical appreciation, historical society member Renee Kistler said.

“The historical society has three buildings,” she said. “We thought, what could be better, what nicer paradise than a sunset, a glass of wine and your dog at your feet?”

The event, held from 4 to 8 p.m., will include wine samples from Emerine Estates Winery and Lakehouse Inn and Winery and refreshments. Coffee will be provided for those who do not drink wine. Cost is $10 for five wine-tasting tickets.

Participants should bring their own lawn chairs and pets should be leashed at all times. Treats will be provided for dogs and cats.

“Come join us and celebrate the wonderful Munger museum and cooling lake breezes, wine and fellowship for people and animals alike,” Kistler said.

The Jennie Munger Gregory Museum is a furnished 1823 farmhouse on Lake Erie shore. It serves as the headquarters for the Ashtabula County Historical Society and features family rooms furnished in the late Victorian style and special exhibits on Ashtabula County history. The museum will be open during the wine and pet event, Shepherd said.
