GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE —
At least one arrest was made as a result of a fight outside The Cove at Geneva-on-the-Lake late Thursday night/early Friday morning.
According to an Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department report, a deputy was called to assist Geneva-on-the-Lake Police with the fight that involved several people. While en route, the deputy was advised that a second fight had started.
When the deputy arrived at the Lake Road business, he observed a “large crowd” in front of the building and it appeared as if officers were having trouble controlling several of the subjects. Geneva-on-the-Lake Police had four officers on duty at the time.
One of the subjects, a 23-year-old Painesville man who was swaying and yelling, was arrested by the sheriff’s department deputy and a GOTL officer. As the deputy attempted to handcuff the subject, the man pulled away and the officers took him to the ground. The subject cooperated and was placed in the deputy’s cruiser.
When the deputy returned to the cruiser, he discovered that, in addition to a strong smell of alcohol on the subject, there was a smell of marijuana. The subject admitted to having about “9 G’s” of the substance on his person. The total quantity of what appeared to be green marijuana weighed 8.7 grams, according to the report.
The man was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and suspicious substance confiscated.
The GOTL department arrested two adults, as well. They were cited and released.
