MADISON TOWNSHIP —
Firefighters are still looking for the cause of an explosion that destroyed a Parkview Place house and damaged several other homes on Jan. 6, said Madison Fire District Chief Gene Lutz.
“I’m working with the insurance company,” Lutz said of the evidence relating to the explosion. Investigators recently ruled out methamphetamines as the cause of the explosion and found no evidence of accelerates or the theft of copper piping.
The blast at the uninhabited home awoke neighbors around 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 6. A full wall of the home was thrown against a neighbors home that incurred significant damage.
People reported hearing the blast as far away as Saybrook Township. Debris covered several streets surrounding the home the morning of the explosion.
