CONNEAUT —
The cause of the fire on Hayward Avenue is still under investigation, Conneaut Fire Capt. Tim Zee said Tuesday.
“We are still working to determine a cause,” he said. “There was extensive damage done to the home and the family is not able to live there right now.”
Several dogs died in the fire, which began just after 4:30 p.m. Monday, Zee said.
“But no people were injured,” he said.
The fire caused $50,000 in damage to the structure and contents, Zee said, though the blaze was under control quickly and efficiently and did not re-ignite.
While no mutual aid was requested by the fire department, automatic mutual aid was sent via the Ashtabula Township Fire Department.
“Right now our ladder truck is out of service, so the Ashtabula Township department sends automatic aid with their ladder truck for working fires,” Zee said.
