ODOT truck strikes Geneva school bus

HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — No one was injured Thursday morning after an Ohio Department of Transportation truck struck a Geneva Area City Schools bus, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.

The truck, driven by Robert Wilt, 56, of Ashtabula, was backing out of a private driveway on Old Harpersfield Road and struck bus 28, driven by Gail Brooks, 48, of Geneva, according to OHP reports.

“There were 36 students on board, en route to Cork Elementary School,” OHP Lt. Jerad Sutton said. “No one was injured.”

Sutton said Brooks and Wilt were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Wilt was cited for failing to yield from a private driveway, Sutton said.
