CONNEAUT — Tests for federal census-taker jobs will be given at the Conneaut Human Resources Center, 327 Mill St., in the coming weeks.
The U.S. Census Bureau is looking for workers to serve the northeast corner of Ashtabula County, said Ed Somppi, CHRC’s executive director. “There are several job opportunities in (the Conneaut area),” he said.
Tests to gauge general knowledge will be given at 9 a.m. Feb. 3 and Feb. 10, Somppi said.
The work is temporary and part time, and will span between four and 10 weeks. Workers will be paid $13.24 an hour and will be reimbursed 50 cents a mile for use of their private vehicles.
Successful candidates will undergo a four-day training session before starting work, Somppi said.
Interested applicants first should call either 866-861-2010 or 440-210-5320 to reserve a seat at one of the tests. Candidates also should visit www.2010censusjobs.gov to take a practice test.
Applicants who are scheduled to take a test should take along two forms of identification, Somppi said.
