CONNEAUT — Big changes are ahead for one of Conneaut’s landmark health care businesses.
Lake Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Parrish Road is now operating where Inn-Conneaut Health Center did business for many years. Co-owners Robin Hillier and Joyce Humphrey officially unveiled their operation earlier this week.
The partners have big plans for Lake Pointe, Hillier said.
“We’re looking to add services,” she said.
Lake Pointe will add programs that concentrate on short-term health care, plus introduce a new therapy provider, Hillier said. The center’s popular bariatric unit will stay, as well.
Some physical changes to the facility are ahead, too, she said.
“We will evaluate other needs within the community,” Hillier said.
The owners hope to keep the Inn-Conneaut employees.
“We have a good group already in place,” Hillier said.
Humphrey and Hillier have years of experience in the long-term health care field, and both are past presidents of the Ohio Health Care Association. Hillier, a certified public accountant, is also a licensed administrator.
Lake Pointe is the pair’s first joint venture. Humphrey already owns health care centers in Madison and Orwell.
“I’m very excited,” Hillier said.
“Conneaut is a nice close-knit community.”
The partners’ interest in Conneaut jumped upon learning that past owner Brad Strong was poised to retire.
“It’s a good business that was run by a good family over the years,” Hillier said.
