GENEVA —
Intoxicated men caused problems in Geneva over the weekend, taking beatings and throwing punches in the early morning hours.
The weekend arrests began at 3:35 a.m. Saturday when Fred Wilson, 41, of Geneva was cited for public intoxication after Sgt. Joseph Webb saw him walking drunkenly down Route 534, police reports show.
Wilson was arrested without incident and held at the Geneva City Jail until his mother picked him up, Webb said.
On Saturday night Fabian Medvec, owner of the Dry Dock in Madison Township, drove Reynaldo Arnold home from the bar. When the pair got to Geneva, Arnold was unable to tell his driver where he lives and would not get out of the car, so Medvec drove Arnold to the Geneva police station.
Webb said the assault happened before Arnold reached the Dry Dock. He was taken to UH-Geneva Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Arnold was cited for possession of marijuana, Webb said. His family was contacted and told to meet Arnold at the emergency room. Webb also contacted the Madison Township police to discuss Arnold’s apparent assault.
Webb’s weekend work wasn’t over as he was called to pick up a man who was, “staggering in the roadway and falling down,” he said.
Webb found Ronald Buchanan, 47, of Rock Creek, “staggering in the roadway and lurching from side to side.”
During a routine pat-down, Webb found a glass marijuana pipe in Buchanan’s pants pocket and a knife, another glass marijuana pipe, rolling papers and a round tin with marijuana residue in Buchanan’s jacket pocket, reports show.
Webb put Buchanan in handcuffs and transported him to the Geneva City Jail, where Buchanan became irate while getting out of the police cruiser, police reports show.
He is charged with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, and being intoxicated in the roadway. He was arraigned on the charges in Western County Court on Monday, records show.
